Hi and welcome to my website! I’m Luisa Marzullo, an experienced native English translator and the owner of Traducimilu, a boutique English translation service—NOT a translation agency—founded in 2011.

I’m Luisa Marzullo, a native English speaker with Italian heritage, born and raised in Australia.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Languages) degree with Distinction at the University of Sydney in 2007, majoring in Italian, German and International Studies, and minoring in French.
I am an ordinary member of AITI, Italy’s leading association for Translators and Interpreters, having been tested and accredited for English translations.
As of 2024, I am also a NAATI certified translator (NAATI is the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia) for translations from Italian into English.
My professional journey began back in 2000 working for large multinational firms in Sydney’s CBD, and later as a trade analyst for the ITA (Italian Trade Agency), at the Sydney branch.
After moving to Italy in 2009, I became a professional, full-time translator in 2011 and today offer a “boutique” English translation service, delivering the same standard as larger agencies at more competitive prices, tailoring my services to individual client needs.

As a fluent Italian and native English speaker, I provide top-tier human translations, machine translation post-editing and meticulous proofreading services for Italian to English translations. I handle all jobs myself without any outsourcing, ensuring high quality and attention to detail.
With sound knowledge of German and French, I offer machine translation post-editing and proofreading services for translations into English, carefully reviewed by a native German or French speaker. For top-quality human translations in these pairs, I collaborate with native-speaking colleagues.
It’s the golden rule of translation and it’s one that not everyone likes. But a translator should only ever translate into their native tongue. Only a native speaker, defined as “a person who has spoken the language in question since earliest childhood” can instinctively manage the grammar, know how to use the idiomatic expressions without sounding forced and truly get the text flowing smoothly. I guarantee you, no matter how good they are, a native reader can spot a non-native translator from a mile away.

Being a native speaker is the first ingredient, but there’s much more to the recipe. Only a professional translator armed with the right CAT tools (translator jargon for “translation software”), the right translation memories, the right research skills and, perhaps most importantly, proper knowledge of their limits (you’ve got to know when to say no), can efficiently handle your translations, meeting all of your demands and ensuring quality results. It’s not a task for students, language enthusiasts or makeshift translators—they simply lack the expertise.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some truly great translation agencies out there—I know, I work for some of them. However, opting against a large language service provider can sometimes have its benefits. Translation agencies deal with an incredibly high volume of projects, and your translation will likely pass through numerous sets of hands before reaching the translator (and again on the way back to you). A boutique translation company (like mine!) can offer more personalised service, direct communication and a tailored approach to your English translation needs.

For translations, I use a so-called “word rate”, which is simply multiplied by the total number of words in the source text (translator jargon for “text in the starting language”) to calculate the overall cost of the translation.
On request, I can also apply a “translation page rate”, multiplied by the total number of translation pages in the source text. Keep in mind though, that a “translation page” is calculated as 1500 characters including spaces (which, for Italian source texts, works out to be around 200/220 words) and not simply a typed page.
For proofreading, I apply an hourly rate, estimating the amount of time I think the text will need.
Naturally, I also offer special rates for ongoing collaborations. The more we work together, the better it is for all!
